Contact: Stuart Coney, Chairman tel 01405 860598
The Club Secretary is Martin Slater and the Captain is Peter Skiggs.
The club is affiliated to the English Short Mat Bowls Association, and plays matches against other local clubs in the Selby League of the North Yorkshire Short Mat Bowling Association. Twenty-two local people, of both sexes, meet on Wednesday and Friday evenings from September to the end of April in East Cowick Village Hall. Matches, involving eight players, usually take place on a Wednesday evening.
Short Mat Bowls is played on a long smooth green mat more than 40 ft long and 6 ft wide. It is a game of skill and finesse and is tremendous fun. Men and women compete on equal terms in the team of four to get nearest the jack and score points.
It's worth coming to watch a Home match at East Cowick Village Hall to get a flavour of what it's all about!
Anyone interested in giving Short Mat Bowls a try should contact Stuart in the first instance, or come along at 7.00 pm on a Friday evening with flat soled shoes or slippers. Bowls can be borrowed.
The new season stared in September 2015.
