This group was formed to work towards enhancing the local area.

Following the article about our new website in the January edition of “The Link” magazine, we were delighted to have some visitors to our recent Steering Group meeting and, since then, two new members of the “Community and Leisure” working group.

The “Community and Leisure” group has recently brought the Ferry Lane project to a successful conclusion.  With a grant of £10,000 from Eggborough Power Station, the group, in partnership with Snaith Primary School and Groundwork North Yorkshire, engaged an artist Steve Tomlinson.  With his help, the children produced some wonderful work on the theme 'Life Cycle of a Butterfly'.  This was completed in school and at home.  Steve then took their ideas and produced three designs for a sculpture.  The children voted unanimously for their favourite one which Steve then made from acid etched galvanised steel.  The sculpture was installed on the Ferry Lane picnic area on Thursday 26 June 2014. Take a look on the 'latest news' page.

Our other project, for which we held a trial session last summer, was to offer “tea parties”  at different venues to elderly residents, parents who are at home during school hours or people who are between jobs and would like to share a comfortable hour or two with others in similar situations. Unfortunately this project has had to be suspended for the time being because of a lack of volunteers to organise them.  The generous grant from the Town Council to help fund these has been returned.

We have had requests through the website for the “litter picks” in Snaith and Cowick to begin again.  However it has been decided that organised litter picks will no longer take place, but the litter picking equipment is available to borrow from the Town Council Offices should anyone wish to use it.

The next project is to update the Community Directory.  If you represent a new group or organisation please get in touch using the contact page on this site.

We meet every two months in the Council Office.

New Members are always welcome.

Steering Group

Contact Sally Hulme via website.

The Steering Group meets approximately four times a year.  It consists of representatives from residents, the church, youth groups, local business, the Town Council and the East Riding Council.

Discussions are held on local issues and reports are received from the working groups.

Visitors are welcome to sit in on meetings, but may not contribute unless it has been cleared with the Chair beforehand.  Also they may be asked to leave when sensitive or confidential issues are discussed.
